The Asia-Pacific Trainers in Forestry (TIF) workshop will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 1 to 3 December 2016. It is organized by APFNet in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of Malaysia, State Forestry Administration of China and RECOFTC – The Center for People and Forests.
The TIF Network is an informal regional network initiated by APFNet that aims to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of forestry training efforts in the region through information exchange, capacity building and collaboration. It is being designed following two workshops on forestry human resources development in Indonesia in 2014 and China in 2015, which discussed challenges and priorities related to training and skill development and proposed a regional program to allow regular exchange on vocational training in the public forestry sector.
The purpose of the upcoming workshop is to put forward an elaborated program work plan for consultation, and take the opportunity to gather forestry trainers in the region to conduct a technical training on training technique improvement. The workshop targets officers working in forestry authorities who are mainly responsible for skill building and training delivery.
