2019 APFNet Master’s Degree Scholarship Program: Call for applications
Launched in 2010 under APFNet’s Capacity Building Framework, the APFNet Scholarship Program (ASP) supports qualified students in completing a master’s degree related to sustainable forest management and rehabilitation. To date, APFNet has cooperated with Beijing Forestry University (BJFU) and Nanjing Forestry University (NJFU) as the two host universities targeting APFNet developing member economies, and Northwest A&F University (NWAFU) targeting both APFNet developing member economies and the Greater Central Asia (GCA) region.

Why apply for the programme?
• Well-known and highly experienced professional forestry faculty
• Sponsorship of tuition fees and expenses, including registration and tuition fees, one round-trip economy class flight ticket from the home economy of the awarded student to and from the city of the admitted university, accommodation on campus or alternative monthly allowance, monthly stipend to cover miscellaneous expenses and medical insurance during the enrolment period
• Small class sizes, which provide high levels of student and teacher interaction
• Motivated and multi-national student cohort, which offers a diverse and stimulating learning environment
• Field trips in China for students during the two-year course to give students access to practical experience on forestry resource status and management in China. Extra field trips will be provided by the host universities according to their resources and academic schedules
• A chance to attend workshops, training events and other activities on capacity development, forestry education/research and policy dialogue organized by APFNet and contact with policy-makers, academics, practitioners and international organizations, etc. in the Asia-Pacific region
• Ample exposure for non-native students to the Chinese language and culture of China

Who can apply?
For BJFU and NJFU, applicants must be citizens from the following developing APFNet member economies: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Viet Nam.
For NWAFU, applicants must be citizens from the developing APFNet member economies mentioned above or from Greater Central Asia (GCA), specifically Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
• Age:18–40 and in good health
• Have a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited higher education institute in forestry or a related field
• At least two years of work experience is required
• Applicants should be recommended by an APFNet Council representative or contact person from their economy* of citizenship (please see the Council list at http://www.apfnet.cn/en/single-132.html for contact information)
• Proficiency in English (all programme courses will be taught in English)
• Female applicants are encouraged
