Impacts & Outcomes:
The project successfully improved watershed management in the Prek Thnot region by integrating sustainable land-use planning, capacity building, and community engagement. It established agroforestry demonstration sites, developed a participatory watershed management plan, and enhanced local knowledge on soil and water conservation. These efforts helped mitigate deforestation, erosion, and flooding risks while promoting sustainable livelihoods.
Through training programs and workshops, the project strengthened the capacities of Forestry Administration staff and local stakeholders in watershed management and agroforestry. It also supported forest-based livelihoods, including sustainable farming practices, non-timber forest product (NTFP) collection, and small-scale enterprises, ensuring long-term economic benefits for communities.
The project contributed to policy development by producing an Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP) and a policy brief, guiding future sustainable land use in the region. It also engaged government agencies and local authorities to align watershed management with national development goals.
