Improvement of ecosystem services, local livelihoods, and scientific outputs of the project.
The project successfully restored over 71 hectares of mangrove ecosystems, integrating sustainable aquaculture practices that stabilized the local ecosystem and provided new economic opportunities for the community.
Significant capacity building was achieved by training 30 forestry officers in GIS and land use planning and 195 village leaders and local staff in sustainable management practices. This ensures the project’s long-term sustainability and efficacy.
Community engagement was robust, with over 600 members benefiting directly from the project, leading to a 55% increase in mud-crab productivity in pilot aquaculture models. Additionally, the establishment of 5 hectares of pure mangrove restoration models not only enhanced biodiversity but also increased timber income for local communities.
