On 19 March 2026, Beijing Forestry University (BFU) Vice President Zhang Zhiqiang and his delegation visited APFNet to discuss scholarship programs and regional forestry talent cultivation with Executive Director Dr. Wang Chunfeng.

BFU presented an update on its international student programs, reviewed key achievements of the APFNet Scholarship Program (ASP), and shared its recent progress in scientific innovation and national key laboratory development. The visit reaffirmed the university’s commitment to deepening cooperation with APFNet.

Dr. Wang Chunfeng acknowledged the strong partnership and the progress BFU through the ASP. He introduced APFNet's current activities across four pillars: demonstration projects, policy dialogue, capacity building, and information sharing, and briefed the delegation on APFNet’s Fourth Strategic Plan (2026-2030).

In response, Vice President Zhang Zhiqiang expressed full support for implementing APFNet's Fourth Strategic Plan and hoped for expanded collaboration and closer ties that build on BFU's strengths in forestry education.

As the first partner university of the ASP, BFU has enrolled and supported 70 students from 13 economies since 2010, including 68 master's and two doctoral candidates, with specialties in forestry, forestry economics and management, and forestry engineering.
