The Tenth Meetings of the APFNet Council and Board of Directors were held in Hangzhou, China, from 23–25 April 2026. The events were hosted by the APFNet Secretariat.
Representatives from 17 member economies and organizations attended the Council Meeting on 23 April. Dr. Sokh Heng (Cambodia), Council Chair, chaired the meetings.

At the Council Meeting, Ms. Ei Ei Swe Hlaing was elected as Vice-chair of the Council for the term 2026–2029. The Council reviewed APFNet’s progress in 2025 and its work plan and budget for 2026, recognizing the achievements in advancing sustainable forest management across the Asia-Pacific region.
The Council also endorsed the selection of three new Board members for the term 2027–2030, with their term of office commencing at the Eleventh Meeting of the Board in 2027. The newly endorsed members are: 1) Dr. Preecha Ongprasert, Director of the Forestry Foreign Affairs Office, Royal Forest Department, Thailand; 2) Dr. Oyunsanaa Byambasuren, Director General, National Forest Agency, Mongolia; 3) Dr. Thaung Naing Oo, Director General, Forest Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Myanmar.
In addition, the Council, with appreciation, accepted the proposal put forward by the Chair of the Council, Dr. Sokh Heng, for Cambodia to host the Eleventh Board and Council Meetings in 2027, and requested the Chair of the Council to convey this decision to the Board of Directors.
As an important platform for regional exchange and cooperation, the Council Meeting facilitated the sharing of experiences and perspectives among member economies, promoting dialogue on forest policy, project implementation, and regional collaboration.

The APFNet Board of Directors met on 25 April, chaired by Mr. Liu Guohong, Chair of the Board and Administrator of China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration. The Board formally appointed the three new Board members for the term 2027–2030, in line with the Council’s decision. The Board also approved the APFNet work plan and budget for 2026, adopted the amendment to the APFNet Operations Manual, and adopted the APFNet Strategic Plan 2027–2030 in principle, providing strategic direction for the organization’s future development.

Between the Meetings, participants took part in a field visit to the APFNet-funded project titled Demonstration on Sustainable Forest Management and Restoration in Hilly and Low Mountain Areas of Southern China (Phase II), gaining firsthand insights into local forest management practices.
