On June 25, 2026, Southwest Forestry University (SWFU) held its commencement, awarding master's degrees to the first six APFNet Scholarship students. The graduates, from Cambodia, Fiji, and Laos, completed a two-year program and will return to their home economies to serve their forest governance and sustainable development.
A Fiji graduate noted that his time at SWFU built a solid professional base, expanded his horizons, and gave him a firm grasp of sustainable forest management. A Cambodia student said he would bring China's knowledge and technology back home, contributing to Cambodia's forestry and regional restoration efforts. Meanwhile, SWFU reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with APFNet and cultivating forestry talent for the Asia-Pacific region.
Since launching its scholarship program in 2010, APFNet has continuously provided opportunities for young forestry officials and researchers across the region. In 2024, APFNet partnered with SWFU to establish a master's scholarship program, which has so far supported 12 students in pursuing forestry master's degrees in China.
