The Second Advisory Group Meeting of the Global Network for Sustainable Forest Management (GFN) was held in a hybrid format in Beijing on 4 November 2026. Dr. Wang Chunfeng, Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet) Secretariat, chaired the meeting as Chair of the Advisory Group. The meeting invited a representative from the Global Development Promotion Center of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) to present an overview of the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and the overall operation of the GDI project pool. Dr. Wang reported on GFN's key work since its establishment, particularly following the formation of the GFN Advisory Group and its first meeting in October 2025. Representatives from Fiji, Mongolia and Thailand presented the latest progress of their GFN-related projects. Advisory Group members held in-depth discussions on the Terms of Reference (ToR) for the GFN Advisory Group, the draft GFN Operational Rules, and the priority work areas for 2027–2028. They put forward suggestions for further refining the ToR and the draft Operational Rules, and discussed the "Reference Framework for GFN Priority Work (2027–2028)." The APFNet Secretariat will revise and improve the ToR, the draft Operational Rules, and the Reference Framework for Priority Work based on the Advisory Group members’ comments.
These documents will then be circulated to Advisory Group members for further review and input. Based on their feedback, the APFNet Secretariat will further refine the documents and proceed with implementation.
