Objectives

Develop an 8.4-ha mini-botanic park within the National Garden Park of Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar city to provide a pleasant and comfortable environment for the recreation and entertainment of citizens, while raising awareness about conservation.

Expected outputs

Validation of project construction work adhering to the construction regulations of Mongolia and APFNet requirements.

Increase of forest cover in the National Garden Park of Ulaanbaatar, enhancing its role as a recreational center for city residents.

Enhanced awareness among Mongolian residents, particularly the younger generation, about the importance of conserving Mongolia’s natural resources through educational tourism.

Impacts and Outcomes

The construction of the mini-botanic park within the National Garden Park of Mongolia has yielded multiple environmental and social benefits:

1. Environmental Restoration and Biodiversity Conservation: The construction of the mini-botanic park has increased urban forest cover in Ulaanbaatar, enhancing biodiversity through the introduction of a variety of tree species that are well-adapted to the local climate. By incorporating native and drought-resistant plants, the project promotes sustainability and serves as a model for future urban greening projects in climates similar to Mongolia’s.

2. Educational and Recreational Benefits: The mini-botanic park serves as a valuable resource for environmental education, featuring educational signage about each plant species that enhances visitors’ learning. It provides a peaceful recreational space that improves the quality of life for the city’s residents.

3. Cultural and Aesthetic Enhancements: By integrating elements of traditional Chinese garden design, the park fosters an appreciation of cross-cultural aesthetics and provides a unique visual experience for both residents and visitors. The design encourages physical activity and mental well-being through its carefully planned landscape, featuring winding trails and scenic views that draw visitors into a continuous exploration of nature.
